![]() Omaha Poker VariationsThere are a number of Omaha Poker variations, giving poker lovers even more options when it comes to playing their most favourite game. Maybe that's why they never get tired of playing. The one factor that's different in the poker variations is that which affects the betting limits. Depending on which particular game you play, the stakes will vary due to the caps that are applied.Limit Omaha (Stakes and Betting)When playing Limit Omaha, the stakes are capped. This means that the maximum that each player puts at stake is already pre-determined. For example, in a $2/$4 game, any bets or raises for the first two rounds are limited to $2; bets and raises are limited to $4 for the remaining two rounds. These betting caps end up allowing each player to bet four times their original bet per round. Also, Limit Omaha has a cap on the number of raises that can be made per round. Check the rules of the table before you sit down as they vary.Pot Limit OmahaThe Pot Limit variation of Omaha Poker also put as limit as to how much each player can bet. In this game, however, the limit is dependent on the pot at the time that the bets are made. For example, there is a $30 pot from the first round, ant the first two players bet $10 each in the second round. The third player has to bet $10 to stay in the game and has the option of raising up to $60. There are no restrictions as to how many raises can be made.No Limit OmahaJust as the name suggests, No Limit Omaha has just that - no limits. The initial and following bets can be as much as is desired and any number of raises can be made during each round. This game is generally played by individuals who are more or less financially stable and can afford the high stakes.Omaha Hi-LoThe variation of Omaha Hi-Lo is played just the same as a regular game of Omaha Poker, with the exception that it allows for two winning hands to share the pot - the highest and the lowest hand divide the pot in half. Read more about Omaha Hi-Lo here. While these are the main Omaha Poker variations, I'm sure that there are players out there inventing their own versions to either pose a greater challenge or simply for more diversity in the game.
